Appendix A

Motion to Combine the Assistant Sports Officer and the Assistant Societies Officer into an Assistant Sports and Societies Officer

Proposed by: Andrew Handley

Seconded by: Henry Wheatley

This JCR Notes:

This motion notes that there is a need for these assistant positions to be streamlined into one, to better support the role of Sports and Societies Officer.

This JCR Believes:

That the combining of the two assistant portfolios better reflects the responsibility of the Officer role and enhances the assistant’s ability to give back and work with college. The role of Assistant Sports Officer requires a greater deal of work than Assistant Societies Officer and the combination of the two would end this imbalance. In addition, this new assistant position will be a better base of experience of how Sports, Societies and the JCR operate.

This JCR Resolves:

This new assistant role will be filled via appointment after an interview with the Sports and Societies Officer and the JCR Chair and will have the responsibility of supporting the Sports and Societies Officer in their day-to-day duties.
